Cape Air Named As Official Airline Sponsor for Sea & Salsa Week in Virgin Gorda

July 10, 2014

Cape Air will be the official airline sponsor of the upcoming Sea and Salsa Week at Virgin Gorda’s Bitter End Yacht Club & Resort.  Sea and Salsa Week, which takes place from July 23 – July 27, 2014, celebrates the soul of the Latin Caribbean and Puertorrican flavor by turning up the heat with a five-day long series of activities sure to satisfy the Spanish spirit in travelers.  Cape Air will support Sea and Salsa Week by enhancing its schedule and adding flights during the festivities, allowing easy access to Tortola and Virgin Gorda from Cape Air’s hub in San Juan.

Visitors will enjoy the culinary wizardry of celebrity guest chef Robert Treviño, head chef/owner of notable Puerto Rican restaurants Budatai, Casa Lola, Bar Gitano, and Rosa Mexicano.  This is the second year in a row that Chef Treviño and his team have partnered up with Bitter End Yacht Club to host this event. Chef Treviño has devised three main offerings for guests and visitors to enjoy, including happy hours, demo kitchens, special menus featuring Puertorrican cuisine, and “Nochebuena @Bitter End” with live cooking stations and live music.

“We are delighted to sponsor this great culinary event that not only celebrates Caribbean cuisine at its best, but also offers a reason for travelers to experience the beauty and uniqueness of the British Virgin Islands,” said Linda Markham, President of Cape Air.  “We have added seats to the Tortola and Virgin Gorda markets to meet the demand of one of the busiest holiday weekends in Puerto Rico,” said Markham.

The Bitter End Yacht Club is accessible only by water, and the most commonly used method to get to the resort  from Tortola is via the North Sound Express ferry that operates between the Beef Island Airport in Tortola (booking code EIS) and Bitter End's dock.  An alternative route would be to fly into the Virgin Gorda Airport (booking code VIJ).  Cape Air currently operates more than eight daily round trips between San Juan and Tortola and four daily round trips between San Juan and Virgin Gorda.

Cape Air has been offering frequent daily flights throughout the Caribbean since 1998. With its Caribbean hub in San Juan, Cape Air passengers can book their reservations now on capeair.com or by calling 800-CAPE-AIR (284-495-2100 in the BVI).
