Cape Air today unveiled a newly designed commemorative aircraft livery honoring and in partnership with America250, the national, nonpartisan organization charged by Congress to lead the commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The custom-painted Cessna 402c aircraft will serve as a flying tribute across Cape Air’s network, celebrating the nation’s history while inspiring reflection on its future.
The aircraft design features a bold red, white, and blue color palette with patriotic striping, stars, and dynamic motion elements symbolizing unity and progress. A defining highlight of the livery is the phrase, “We the People,” prominently displayed on the belly of the aircraft. This is an intentional and meaningful placement that becomes visible in flight, representing the foundational principle of American democracy and serving as a reminder that the nation’s story belongs to all.
“This aircraft is a celebration of one of the most important milestones in our nation's history," said Mike Migliore, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cape Air. "It brings the spirit of America250 to life in a way that is Cape Air. Every day, we connect communities across our network, and we are proud that this aircraft will help share the story of America's 250th anniversary with the thousands of passengers who fly with us.”
The commemorative aircraft will operate throughout Cape Air’s network, bringing the America250 message to communities across the United States. Passengers traveling on the aircraft will experience a unique visual reminder of the milestone anniversary.
“As we prepare to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, we're proud to partner with organizations that help bring people together and strengthen connections across the country,” said Jen Condon, Executive Vice President of America250. “Cape Air's commitment to connecting communities makes this America250 aircraft a fitting symbol of the Semiquincentennial, carrying the spirit of this historic milestone to destinations across the nation and inspiring Americans to take part in the celebration.”
The commemorative livery was designed with Scheme Designers, whose team brought the America250 vision to life, ensuring every detail reflects the significance of this historic milestone.
Cape Air’s participation in America250 reflects its longstanding commitment to community connection, regional accessibility, and celebrating the spirit of America through travel.

About America250
America250 is the national nonpartisan initiative working to engage every American in celebrating and commemorating the Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is spearheaded by the congressionally-appointed U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and its sole-supporting nonprofit organization, America250.org, Inc., together known as America250. This multi-year effort kicked off with America’s Invitation on July 4, 2023: a national public engagement campaign inviting all Americans to share their stories and their hopes and dreams for the future of this country. Leading up to July 4, 2026, America250 is working to provide opportunities for all Americans to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look to the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.
