Cape Air Introduces Cessna Grand Caravan EX to its Fleet to Begin Serving Montana Communities

September 10, 2026

Hyannis, MA — September 10, 2026 — Cape Air is pleased to announce the introduction of its next generation aircraft for Eastern Montana, with the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX set to begin service across the airline's Montana network in 2027. Known worldwide for its reliability, performance, and proven safety, the Cessna Carravan family has earned the trust of operators across millions of flight hours, keeping regional air travel accessible, dependable, and connected.

Cape Air will begin transitioning its Montana fleet from the Tecnam P2012 Traveller to the Cessna Grand Caravan EX equipped with a belly cargo pod, providing significantly increased baggage and storage capacity while maintaining the reliable air service communities throughout the region depend on every day. The airline expects all Montana operations to be transitioned to the Caravan fleet by the end of 2027.

"The communities we serve in Eastern Montana are unique, and we're proud to continue investing in air service that meets their needs," said Mike Migliore, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cape Air. " The Cessna Grand Caravan EX is a proven, dependable aircraft that will provide additional flexibility for passengers traveling with baggage, sporting equipment, work gear, and other essential items. It is a great fit for our Montana operation and reinforces our long-term commitment to the communities we serve.”

The new aircraft will serve Cape Air's routes connecting Billings (BIL) with Havre (HVR), Glasgow (GGW), Glendive (GDV), Sidney (SDY), and Wolf Point (OLF), ensuring continued access to the national and international air transportation system through Cape Air's interline partnerships with seamless connections to Billings and beyond.

Throughout the transition, Cape Air's current Tecnam P2012 fleet will continue to provide safe and reliable air service for Montana travelers. The introduction of the Grand Caravan EX aircraft represents the next phase of Cape Air's ongoing investment in the region and its commitment to delivering a high-quality customer experience.

“Operators around the world continue to choose the Cessna Grand Caravan EX because it delivers the dependability and operating flexibility needed to perform day after day,” said Chris Crow, vice president, Piston & Utility aircraft sales at Textron Aviation. “The high-wing, single-engine turboprop is a natural fit for Cape Air’s mission, providing the versatility needed to efficiently move passengers, baggage and cargo while maintaining the reliability their customers depend on.”

"Our commitment remains the same as it has since we first began serving Montana more than a decade ago: to connect communities, support local economies, and provide convenient, reliable air transportation," Migliore added. "We're excited for our customers to experience the benefits this new aircraft will bring."

Additional details regarding aircraft deployment and service schedules will be announced as the transition progresses.
