Marion Reaches 10,000 Passenger Milestone

December 18, 2013
For the second consecutive year, Cape Air has enplaned 10,000 passengers at the Williamson County Regional Airport, rendering the airport eligible for $1 million in federal grant monies that can be used for capital infrastructure and safety projects.  These funds are made available to commercial service airports enplaning 10,000 passengers or more each year as part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.  Cape Air hit 10,000 passengers at the Williamson County Regional Airport on December 16, nine days ahead of December 25, the date the milestone was reached in 2012.

“We know how financially important it is to the airport that we reach 10,000 enplanements in a calendar year,” said Linda Markham, President of Cape Air.  “We’re delighted that we were able to help the airport secure this important infrastructure funding for the second year in a row.”

Cape Air has grown steadily at Williamson County Regional Airport since entering the market in December 2009.  Enplanements rose 41% between 2010 and 2012, and January – November enplanements for 2013 are up 3% compared to the same period in 2012.  When combined with deplanements, or passengers flying into the Williamson County Regional Airport, Cape Air will handle nearly 20,000 passengers in 2013.

“We couldn't be more pleased with the continued success that Cape Air has had in our market, not only for the benefits it provides to the airport, but also for it continuing to provide reliable and affordable air service for our region,” said Doug Kimmel, Airport Director at the Williamson County Regional Airport.
Cape Air offers daily service between the Williamson County Regional Airport and St. Louis.  Tickets can be purchased by visiting capeair.com, by calling 1-800-CapeAir, by visiting Cape Air’s ticket office at 202A N. Market in Marion or visiting a local travel agent.
