Record Ridership in the Caribbean

March 2, 2020

Cape Air reported its highest ridership to date in most of its Caribbean destinations since starting service 22 years ago.  With flights to eight destinations from its hub at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, Cape Air carried 35,000 passengers between December 2019 and January 2020 – a 51% year-over-year increase.

“We are very proud of our performance in the Caribbean and the role we play in the development of air traffic in the region,” said Linda Markham, President of Cape Air. “Our Operational Excellence initiative, which focuses on safety, reliability, and customer experience, has been embraced by all our employees, and that shows in these growing numbers.”

Cape Air has been offering frequent daily flights throughout the Caribbean since 1998. With a Caribbean hub in San Juan, Cape Air operates more than 80 daily flights to St. Thomas, St. Croix, Tortola, Vieques, Mayaguez, Culebra, Virgin Gorda, and Nevis.  Cape Air currently has 25 aircraft in the Caribbean for the season: 21 Cessna 402s and 4 Britten-Norman Islanders and will soon introduce the Tecnam P2012 Traveller – the industry’s first (in 25 years) twin-engine clean-sheet design aircraft incorporating modern technology.
