Marion, Illinois- Cape Air has surpassed the 10,000 passenger enplanement goal for Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois. Reaching this goal is a top priority for both the airline and the airport. In achieving this objective, Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois will receive $1 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration to cover eligible airport improvements. The FAA entitlements are entirely user-funded with no cost to taxpayers.
“Once again we couldn’t be more grateful for the outstanding air service provided by Cape Air which is reflected in their growing traffic. Not only does this provide the airport eligibility for critical capital improvement funds from the FAA on an ongoing basis, but it also signifies the public’s utilization of air service that is convenient, reliable, and cost effective,” said Airport Director, Doug Kimmel.
