Hotels: If shopping and dining are an important part of your vacation itinerary, the hotels in Road Town are ideal. The hotels and inns on the beach are generally more intimate, with 50 or fewer rooms, allowing staff members to provide special care and attention to guests. Due to the high number of return guests, these small hotels fill up quickly, and it may be easiest to book a room in the summer or fall.

Beaches: The North shore has no shortage of isolated, quiet beaches. A bit off the beaten path, Brewer’s Bay offers calm waters and a great location for snorkeling and swimming. Cane Garden Bay is the most accessible beach to Road Town, and has amenities such as restaurants, shops, and water sport rentals. Surfers will have the best luck finding waves at either Josiah’s Bay or Apple Bay in January and February. For those interested in SCUBA diving, many of the beachside hotels have their own diving companies.

Activities: Though you won’t find the usual retail stores, there are many locally owned shops in Road Town where you will find unique pieces of fine jewelry and art. By car, it doesn’t take long to travel the steep and winding roads of the island and see some spectacular views. Nature enthusiasts can find rare plant species and breathtaking views on the hiking trails at Sage Mountain National Park.
